The Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business, (Deutsch: Asien-Pazifik Konferenz der deutschen Wirtschaft) or APK for short, is the flagship event in the region for business leaders, executives and government representatives to discuss and promote economic relations between Germany and Asia. The conference was first organised in 1986 and is being held every two years in various locations in Asia. Since then, it has evolved into the largest German networking event in the region, regularly attracting hundreds of business and political leaders from both regions to meet and greet in this occasion.
GIC/AHK is the local host and the organiser of this event. The Asia-Pacific Committee of German Business (APA) together with the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) of Germany are the co-organisers. The Federation of German Industries (BDI), the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), the German Asia-Pacific Business Association (OAV), the Federation of German Wholesale, Foreign Trade and Services (BGA) and the Association of German Banks (BdB) are the supporting parties of the APA.
The 15th conference, will be held from the 3rd to the 5th of November 2016, for the first time in Hong Kong. GIC/AHK Hong Kong, being the local host, will organise this event at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. The adjacent Grand Hyatt Hong Kong and Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel will support this event by providing venues for meeting; and guestrooms for participants. The conference will kick-off with a welcome reception in the evening of the 3rd November 2016, followed by a two-day conference on the 4th and 5th.
The 14th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business (APK) took place from 20th to 22nd November 2014 in Ho Chi Minh City. The Delegate of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (GIC) was the local host and organiser of the event.
The conference theme was “Understanding Trends and Perspectives” and the 14th edition of the APK focused on industries and trends of the future, where cooperation between businesses in Germany and Asia-Pacific region can thrive. The two-day conference featured 19 topics and 28 hours of debates. 94 speakers were invited to the conference and more than 800 participants from 31 countries attended. Delegates had ample opportunity to speak, listen and network during the conference. Together, they have created concepts and solutions for a more sustainable future.
The 13th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business (APK) was held from 1st to 3rd November 2012 at Gurgaon, Delhi. The conference was held entirely in English for the first time, and attracted more than 750 delegates from 15 countries to attend the conference. The theme of the 13th APK was “Partnership, Innovation and Sustainability – Towards Sustainable Growth. Special focus was rendered to businesses in ASEAN during the conference period. German-ASEAN Chamber Network (GACN) was founded in the presence of the Federal Minister of Economics and Technology, Dr. Philipp Rösler, to facilitate German companies’ activities in the region.
